King Brigham

I have been sitting on this post for around a year. There have been a couple reasons for this. For one I have had mixed feeling about blogging, and still have, but blogging can have a positive effect. I keep wanting to make the post better, but I don’t think I’ll ever get it to the point to where I am completely satisfied with it. For one there are some areas feel inadequate and I repeat some. There is more that I could put in, but I am concerned about putting some things in. I encourage others who feel they can do a better job than me on making the information flow and filling in some of the holes, I say please do and please provide a link to it in the comments so I and others can read it. While I do believe that God has helped me with parts of this post, other parts He has left me to figure out on my own. I do hope this is good enough that people can see the gist of what I am trying to share.

Some will read this and think I am trying to destroy people’s faith. Quite the contrary, I am seeking to get people to put their faith in God and to stop putting their trust in the arm of flesh aka men. In fact, I don’t want you to just trust me on what I am saying, I want you to do your own study on this and many other subjects yourself and ask God if it is not true while remembering the mercy of God (see Moroni 10:3-5). I want you to search, not just read, the scriptures for truths and see how they apply to us in our day here and now. Stop only applying the verse that speak good to yourself and those that speak of evil to others. If anything, do the exact opposite. The Book of Mormon prophets saw our day (see Mormon 8:35 also BoM Title Page “by way of commandment, and also by the spirit of prophecy and of revelation”). One mode of prophecy is using the past to show us what will happen in the future. Isaiah is ripe with this type of prophecy. I believe with the limited space on the plates the authors did not waste it (see Words of Mormon 1:5). And said so many things to those who would not harden their hearts to what is written (see 2 Nephi 33:2). Jesus talked in parables, and so do Book of Mormon prophets. Holy prophets are not liked by the masses, because they teach against false traditions of the day. They don’t do this to be mean but because they know to accept truth we need to let go of false traditions (see Helaman 15:7). Let us for a moment look at the phrase publishing peace (see Mosiah 15:14 and Helaman 5:19). Jesus talks about giving peace to the disciples in John 14: 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. How is it that one can gain this peace that Jesus talked of? By repenting and becoming like Jesus Christ. Alma the younger and the sons of Mosiah taught repentance after their conversion and it is said they published peace (see Mosiah 27:37). Compare that to false prophets who tell people what they want to hear and take their money (see Helaman 13:26-29). I seek to heed the word of God no matter where it comes from and make it Mormon aka to accept it (paraphrasing a quote from Joseph Smith). This is the life to prepare to meet God and to live with him (see 2 Nephi 2:21). To do that we must repent, to repent we need to know what the commandments are and know that we are not following them so we can change what we are doing wrong and to turn back to the Lord and to receive His peace.

Although relevant to the article, I am not going to go into how Zeniff represents Joseph Smith in Mosiah 9 – 10. I do believe the pattern will be very obvious after you read the rest of the article, and if you then go read Mosiah 9 – 10 afterward on your own you will see Joseph Smith in the prophecy. There are many parallels to what Zeniff did and what Joseph Smith did.

At the end of the comparison I will briefly show about how Limhi after multiple failed attempts listened to Gideon’s plan to escape bondage. I believe Gideon’s plan to use wine, a symbol of Christ’s atoning blood used in the sacrament, is showing dependence on Christ’s atonement is what frees us all.

Noahites Brighamites
Righteous to wicked leader Mosiah 11:1 And now it came to pass that Zeniff conferred the kingdom upon Noah, one of his sons; therefore Noah began to reign in his stead; and he did not walk in the ways of his father. Joseph Smith righteous, Brigham Young was wicked and did not follow after what Jesus Christ revealed through Joseph Smith.
Polygamy Mosiah 11:2 For behold, he did not keep the commandments of God, but he did walk after the desires of his own heart. And he had many wives and concubines. And he did cause his people to commit sin, and do that which was abominable in the sight of the Lord. Yea, and they did commit whoredoms and all manner of wickedness. Brigham Young started polygamy also used the church for the desires of his heart.
Increased Tithing Mosiah 11:3 And he laid a tax of one fifth part of all they possessed, a fifth part of their gold and of their silver, and a fifth part of their ziff, and of their copper, and of their brass and their iron; and a fifth part of their fatlings; and also a fifth part of all their grain. After Joseph Smith died, the leaders voted to increase tithing from SURPLUS to everything they earned.
Leaders did not work Mosiah 11:4 And all this did he take to support himself, and his wives and his concubines; and also his priests, and their wives and their concubines; thus he had changed the affairs of the kingdom.

Mosiah 11:6 Yea, and thus they were supported in their laziness, and in their idolatry, and in their whoredoms, by the taxes which king Noah had put upon his people; thus did the people labor exceedingly to support iniquity.

Leaders are paid from tithing. Leaders are also exempt from tithing.
New leadership Mosiah 11:5 For he put down all the priests that had been consecrated by his father, and consecrated new ones in their stead, such as were lifted up in the pride of their hearts. Brigham Young changed the organization of the church and who was in charge.
False teachings Mosiah 11:7 Yea, and they also became idolatrous, because they were deceived by the vain and flattering words of the king and priests; for they did speak flattering things unto them. Teachings have changed through time. BY focused on flattery.
buildings Mosiah 11:8 And it came to pass that king Noah built many elegant and spacious buildings; and he ornamented them with fine work of wood, and of all manner of precious things, of gold, and of silver, and of iron, and of brass, and of ziff, and of copper; Temples, Malls, Conference Center, Meeting Houses …
Throne of wood Mosiah 11:9 And he also built him a spacious palace, and a throne in the midst thereof, all of which was of fine wood and was ornamented with gold and silver and with precious things. Conference Center podium
Fine temples Mosiah 11:10 And he also caused that his workmen should work all manner of fine work within the walls of the temple, of fine wood, and of copper, and of brass. Temples
Putting one man above another Mosiah 11:11 And the seats which were set apart for the high priests, which were above all the other seats, he did ornament with pure gold; and he caused a breastwork to be built before them, that they might rest their bodies and their arms upon while they should speak lying and vain words to his people. LDS teaches we should honor and revear their leaders. Instead of following this teaching, Mosiah 23:7 … for thus saith the Lord: Ye shall not esteem one flesh above another, or one man shall not think himself above another; …
Tower Mosiah 11:12 And it came to pass that he built a tower near the temple; yea, a very high tower, even so high that he could stand upon the top thereof and overlook the land of Shilom, and also the land of Shemlon, which was possessed by the Lamanites; and he could even look over all the land round about. Church Office Building is the tallest building in the area and it is next to the Temple. In fact people go to the top of it to look at thou whole valley.
Riches Mosiah 11:13 And it came to pass that he caused many buildings to be built in the land Shilom; and he caused a great tower to be built on the hill north of the land Shilom, which had been a resort for the children of Nephi at the time they fled out of the land; and thus he did do with the riches which he obtained by the taxation of his people. LDS church is involved in many building projects of their own and with others. Not long ago they donated $3 million to build a stadium. Brigham Young’s finances was intermixed with the churches finances, and thus how he became rich.
Riches Mosiah 11:14 And it came to pass that he placed his heart upon his riches, and he spent his time in riotous living with his wives and his concubines; and so did also his priests spend their time with harlots. Brigham Young cared more for money than people. There are many examples how Brigham hearts was upon riches. He even did much to get an immigrant’s piano.
Vineyards Mosiah 11:15 And it came to pass that he planted vineyards round about in the land; and he built wine-presses, and made wine in abundance; and therefore he became a wine-bibber, and also his people. LDS church owned vineyards in past for making of wine.
Problems with Lamanites Mosiah 11:16 And it came to pass that the Lamanites began to come in upon his people, upon small numbers, and to slay them in their fields, and while they were tending their flocks.

Mosiah 11:17 And king Noah sent guards round about the land to keep them off; but he did not send a sufficient number, and the Lamanites came upon them and killed them, and drove many of their flocks out of the land; thus the Lamanites began to destroy them, and to exercise their hatred upon them.

Mosiah 11:18 And it came to pass that king Noah sent his armies against them, and they were driven back, or they drove them back for a time; therefore, they returned rejoicing in their spoil.

Problems with Native Americans, one example is the Mountain Meadow Massacre another is the extermination order against the Timpanogos.
Bosting in Killing Mosiah 11:19 And now, because of this great victory they were lifted up in the pride of their hearts; they did boast in their own strength, saying that their fifty could stand against thousands of the Lamanites; and thus they did boast, and did delight in blood, and the shedding of the blood of their brethren, and this because of the wickedness of their king and priests. Brigham Young taught that a man’s blood needed to be spilt and touch the ground to be saved.
Warnings Mosiah 11:20 And it came to pass that there was a man among them whose name was Abinadi; and he went forth among them, and began to prophesy, saying: Behold, thus saith the Lord, and thus hath he commanded me, saying, Go forth, and say unto this people, thus saith the Lord—Wo be unto this people, for I have seen their abominations, and their wickedness, and their whoredoms; and except they repent I will visit them in mine anger. The Lord God has been warning from outside sources that are not being listened to.
Punishment Mosiah 11

21 And except they repent and turn to the Lord their God, behold, I will deliver them into the hands of their enemies; yea, and they shall be brought into bondage; and they shall be afflicted by the hand of their enemies.

22 And it shall come to pass that they shall know that I am the Lord their God, and am a jealous God, visiting the iniquities of my people.

23 And it shall come to pass that except this people repent and turn unto the Lord their God, they shall be brought into bondage; and none shall deliver them, except it be the Lord the Almighty God.

LDS church was taken by one of it’s enemies, the USA gov. USA government seized the churches property multiple times, in addition to threats of it to get them to comply.
Slow to hear their prayers Mosiah 11

24 Yea, and it shall come to pass that when they shall cry unto me I will be slow to hear their cries; yea, and I will suffer them that they be smitten by their enemies.

25 And except they repent in sackcloth and ashes, and cry mightily to the Lord their God, I will not hear their prayers, neither will I deliver them out of their afflictions; and thus saith the Lord, and thus hath he commanded me.

Many LDS members talk about they don’t understand why God does not answer their prayers.
Thinking all is well in Zion Mosiah 11

26 Now it came to pass that when Abinadi had spoken these words unto them they were wroth with him, and sought to take away his life; but the Lord delivered him out of their hands.

27 Now when king Noah had heard of the words which Abinadi had spoken unto the people, he was also wroth; and he said: Who is Abinadi, that I and my people should be judged of him, or who is the Lord, that shall bring upon my people such great affliction?

LDS church teaches all is well in Zion, there is nothing major that needs to be fixed. In fact they have said in General Conference all is well. But yet they have failed to bring about Zion and a Zion like people. And because the leaders have said all is well, there is not much more that needs to be done, members don’t like to hear that there is much repenting that needs to be done. That we need to work out our salvation with fear and trembling before God.
Removing Mosiah 11:28 I command you to bring Abinadi hither, that I may slay him, for he has said these things that he might stir up my people to anger one with another, and to raise contentions among my people; therefore I will slay him. LDS leaders seek to removed people who do not teach their ideas of what the scriptures say. In fact LDS church hardly quotes scriptures, yes they do some but none that have real meat or ones that say what a horrible situation we are in, but prefer quotes from their leaders that leads them to believe all is well.

Helaman 13

26 Behold ye are worse than they; for as the Lord liveth, if a prophet come among you and declareth unto you the word of the Lord, which testifieth of your sins and iniquities, ye are angry with him, and cast him out and seek all manner of ways to destroy him; yea, you will say that he is a false prophet, and that he is a sinner, and of the devil, because he testifieth that your deeds are evil.

27 But behold, if a man shall come among you and shall say: Do this, and there is no iniquity; do that and ye shall not suffer; yea, he will say: Walk after the pride of your own hearts; yea, walk after the pride of your eyes, and do whatsoever your heart desireth—and if a man shall come among you and say this, ye will receive him, and say that he is a prophet.

28 Yea, ye will lift him up, and ye will give unto him of your substance; ye will give unto him of your gold, and of your silver, and ye will clothe him with costly apparel; and because he speaketh flattering words unto you, and he saith that all is well, then ye will not find fault with him.

29 O ye wicked and ye perverse generation; ye hardened and ye stiffnecked people, how long will ye suppose that the Lord will suffer you? Yea, how long will ye suffer yourselves to be led by foolish and blind guides? Yea, how long will ye choose darkness rather than light?

blinded Mosiah 11:29 Now the eyes of the people were blinded; therefore they hardened their hearts against the words of Abinadi, and they sought from that time forward to take him. And king Noah hardened his heart against the word of the Lord, and he did not repent of his evil doings. LDS church says they believe in the Book of Mormon, but when it comes to following the precepts that are in it, that is a whole other story. When scriptures in it are pointed out that goes against the false traditions, people explain it away as that is not for us, it’s a different world, God’s commandments changes, if it was important the modern leaders would tell us, even to the point they are taught that the current leaders words trump scriptures, despite the fact scriptures teaches the word of God does not change.  So on and so forth, to the effect there is no repentance happening.
Hard of hearts Mosiah 12:1 And it came to pass that after the space of two years that Abinadi came among them in disguise, that they knew him not, and began to prophesy among them, saying: Thus has the Lord commanded me, saying—Abinadi, go and prophesy unto this my people, for they have hardened their hearts against my words; they have repented not of their evil doings; therefore, I will visit them in my anger, yea, in my fierce anger will I visit them in their iniquities and abominations.

An interesting tid bit is that the number two has much to do with witnessing.

When members of the LDS church are shown what the Book of Mormon teaches on various subjects, they conclude it does not apply to them, because they have a leader today that tells them they don’t need to worry about it. Compared to Alma 7:20 I perceive that it has been made known unto you, by the testimony of his word, that he cannot walk in crooked paths; NEITHER DOTH HE VARY FROM THAT WHICH HE HATH SAID; neither hath he a shadow of turning from the right to the left, or from that which is right to that which is wrong; therefore, his course is one eternal round.
driven Mosiah 12:2 Yea, wo be unto this generation! And the Lord said unto me: Stretch forth thy hand and prophesy, saying: Thus saith the Lord, it shall come to pass that this generation, because of their iniquities, shall be brought into bondage, and shall be smitten on the cheek; yea, and shall be driven by men, and shall be slain; and the vultures of the air, and the dogs, yea, and the wild beasts, shall devour their flesh. LDS church is at the whims what the USA government will allow them to do. In addition, LDS church is so worried about what others think about them instead of following what is in the scriptures. If you are worried about what anyone’s opinion is other than God’s you are in bondage to that person or persons.
Life shall have no value Mosiah 12:3 And it shall come to pass that the life of king Noah shall be valued even as a garment in a hot furnace; for he shall know that I am the Lord. Brigham Young was killed by a wife and daughter because they thought it was better for him to be dead than alive, they did not value his life, his own family.
Famine & diseases Mosiah 12:4 And it shall come to pass that I will smite this my people with sore afflictions, yea, with famine and with pestilence; and I will cause that they shall howl all the day long. Brighamites died because of lack of food, they also died from diseases.
burdens Mosiah 12:5 Yea, and I will cause that they shall have burdens lashed upon their backs; and they shall be driven before like a dumb ass. Early LDS history there were lots of burdens to bare.
Insects & Crops Mosiah 12:6 … and insects shall pester their land also, and devour their grain. LDS crops were destroyed by crickets.
diseases Mosiah 12:7 And they shall be smitten with a great pestilence—and all this will I do because of their iniquities and abominations. As already mentioned, LDS church suffered though diseases.
History Mosiah 12:8 And it shall come to pass that except they repent I will utterly destroy them from off the face of the earth; yet they shall leave a record behind them, and I will preserve them for other nations which shall possess the land; yea, even this will I do that I may discover the abominations of this people to other nations. And many things did Abinadi prophesy against this people. LDS church has a history department, and the LDS church has much of it locked up so you don’t know what is in it, some historians have written on some things that are contained in the locked records.
Angry Mosiah 12:9 And it came to pass that they were angry with him; and they took him and carried him bound before the king, and said unto the king: Behold, we have brought a man before thee who has prophesied evil concerning thy people, and saith that God will destroy them.

Mosiah 12:10 And he also prophesieth evil concerning thy life, and saith that thy life shall be as a garment in a furnace of fire.

LDS members and leaders get angry when they are show the negative scriptures applies to us. And what do they do next, they take them to a court “of love”, as they call it but it far from it. To removed them from the people.
Destroyed Mosiah 12:11 And again, he saith that thou shalt be as a stalk, even as a dry stalk of the field, which is run over by the beasts and trodden under foot. In modern day, not far distant, the Lamanites will rise up and cause much destruction among those who don’t believe in the scriptures and what they teach.
Denial Mosiah 12:12 And again, he saith thou shalt be as the blossoms of a thistle, which, when it is fully ripe, if the wind bloweth, it is driven forth upon the face of the land. And he pretendeth the Lord hath spoken it. And he saith all this shall come upon thee except thou repent, and this because of thine iniquities. There is much prophesied in the Book of Mormon that many LDS members don’t want to admit is there. Lets look at one for a moment, a modern day apostasy. Here is Jesus Christ teaching it. 3 nephi 16: 10 And thus commandeth the Father that I should say unto you: At that day when the Gentiles shall sin against my gospel, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts above all nations, and above all the people of the whole earth, and shall be filled with all manner of lyings, and of deceits, and of mischiefs, and all manner of hypocrisy, and murders, and priestcrafts, and whoredoms, and of secret abominations; and if they shall do all those things, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, behold, saith the Father, I will bring the fulness of my gospel from among them.
Have not sinned Mosiah 12:13 And now, O king, what great evil hast thou done, or what great sins have thy people committed, that we should be condemned of God or judged of this man?

Mosiah 12:14 And now, O king, behold, we are guiltless, and thou, O king, hast not sinned; therefore, this man has lied concerning you, and he has prophesied in vain.

LDS leaders have taught that they have not sinned. (In fact even taught if you have sinned you can’t live with God.) And teach they can’t lead anyone astray. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
All is well Mosiah 12:15 And behold, we are strong, we shall not come into bondage, or be taken captive by our enemies; yea, and thou hast prospered in the land, and thou shalt also prosper. LDS church has said all is well in Zion. LDS church has fallen captive many times by enemies.
councils Mosiah 12:16 Behold, here is the man, we deliver him into thy hands; thou mayest do with him as seemeth thee good.

Mosiah 12:17 And it came to pass that king Noah caused that Abinadi should be cast into prison; and he commanded that the priests should gather themselves together that he might hold a council with them what he should do with him.

LDS church holds councils of men when people stick to the scriptures instead of their false traditions
 crossing Mosiah 12

18 And it came to pass that they said unto the king: Bring him hither that we may question him; and the king commanded that he should be brought before them.

19 And they began to question him, that they might cross him, that thereby they might have wherewith to accuse him; but he answered them boldly, and withstood all their questions, yea, to their astonishment; for he did withstand them in all their questions, and did confound them in all their words.

I don’t agree with Jeremy T Runnells, the principle author of the CES Letter, on many things. But he and others have made public the dealings of their courts “of love” and he specifically has made public much of transpired leading to his court. And Jeremy has documented how his bishop crossed him trying to find something to accuse him of.
Twisting Scriptures Mosiah 12

20 And it came to pass that one of them said unto him: What meaneth the words which are written, and which have been taught by our fathers, saying:

21 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings; that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good; that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth;

22 Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing; for they shall see eye to eye when the Lord shall bring again Zion;

23 Break forth into joy; sing together ye waste places of Jerusalem; for the Lord hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem;

24 The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God?

LDS church twists the scriptures, LDS church teaches all is well. In addition, they hardly preach repentance, and when they do it’s not of God’s commandments but men’s (see D&C 89:2 NOT by commandment nor constraint for one example). In Mosiah 27 we have an example of Alma the younger and the sons of Mosiah preaching and publishing repentance, and this idea of publishing peace was applied to them. Those who publish peace are those who teach of God’s ways so everyone will know how to have God’s peace and not the world’s peace (see John 14:27).

Mosiah 27:37 And how blessed are they! For they did publish peace; they did publish good tidings of good; and they did declare unto the people that the Lord reigneth.

pretend Mosiah 12:25 And now Abinadi said unto them: Are you priests, and pretend to teach this people, and to understand the spirit of prophesying, and yet desire to know of me what these things mean? Twists doctrines, pretends to be prophets but never gives a prophecy, pretends to know the Lord, but never testifies of Him (Revelations). Claims the title of prophet, seer and revelators, but never showing forth fruits of such callings.

Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Matthew 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits.

Perverting Mosiah 12:26 I say unto you, wo be unto you for perverting the ways of the Lord! For if ye understand these things ye have not taught them; therefore, ye have perverted the ways of the Lord. LDS church has slow and consistently changed doctrine on many aspects.

Here is one that I care a lot about, tithing is for the poor.

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye ALL the TITHES into the STOREHOUSE, that there may be MEAT in mine house …

JST Genesis 14

37 And he lifted up his voice, and he blessed Abram, being the high priest, and the keeper of the storehouse of God;

38 Him whom God had appointed to receive tithes FOR THE POOR.

Don’t understand Mosiah 12:27 Ye have not applied your hearts to understanding; therefore, ye have not been wise. Therefore, what teach ye this people? Don’t understand the purpose is to KNOW GOD while in the flesh aka this life, which is the fullness of the Gospel
Saying they teach the law Mosiah 12:28 And they said: We teach the law of Moses.

Noah priests did not teach the law of God.

LDS church does not teach the LAW of God. Many of “commandments” they focus on are not even commandments. Example D&C 89:2 … not by commandment nor constraint …
Doesn’t follow the law Mosiah 12:29 And again he said unto them: If ye teach the law of Moses why do ye not keep it? Why do ye set your hearts upon riches? Why do ye commit whoredoms and spend your strength with harlots, yea, and cause this people to commit sin, that the Lord has cause to send me to prophesy against this people, yea, even a great evil against this people? LDS church spent more on building a mall in a few years than they spent on humanitarian aid in 26 years, as reported on their website. They have also bought a significant portion of FL for a realestate investment, in fact they are changing farm land (food) to investment (money). LDS church also published that they donated 3 million dollars to help build a stadium, but they never seem to advertise how much they currently are donating to help the poor.
Brigham Young had 56 wives and many early LDS leaders also had many wives, it would have taken much energy to take care of them all.
Truth Mosiah 12:30 Know ye not that I speak the truth? Yea, ye know that I speak the truth; and you ought to tremble before God.  If you take the time to study LDS history, not just the faith promoting correlated sound bites the LDS church provides, but all history, you will see what I am pointing out is true.
Smitten Mosiah 12:31 And it shall come to pass that ye shall be smitten for your iniquities, for ye have said that ye teach the law of Moses. And what know ye concerning the law of Moses? Doth salvation come by the law of Moses? What say ye? Early in LDS history had many examples of being smitten.
Salvation Mosiah 12:32 And they answered and said that salvation did come by the law of Moses. LDS church teaches to gain salvation you have to go to the temple aka works aka the law, not by grace. They focus on doing rather than becoming.
No other Gods before me Mosiah 12:33 But now Abinadi said unto them: I know if ye keep the commandments of God ye shall be saved; yea, if ye keep the commandments which the Lord delivered unto Moses in the mount of Sinai, saying:
Mosiah 12:34 I am the Lord thy God, who hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Mosiah 12:35 Thou shalt have no other God before me.
Mosiah 12:36 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing in heaven above, or things which are in the earth beneath.
Mosiah 12:37 Now Abinadi said unto them, Have ye done all this? I say unto you, Nay, ye have not. And have ye taught this people that they should do all these things? I say unto you, Nay, ye have not.
LDS church focuses on follow the prophet, a man, does not focus on follow Christ.
Don’t follow the scriptures Mosiah 13:1 And now when the king had heard these words, he said unto his priests: Away with this fellow, and slay him; for what have we to do with him, for he is mad. If you try to get LDS members to follow what is taught in the scriptures, tell say you don’t need to, the “prophet” does not teach that. Or try to get them to focus on God they say follow the prophet he will not lead you astray.
Keep the Commandments Mosiah 13:2 And they stood forth and attempted to lay their hands on him; but he withstood them, and said unto them:

Mosiah 13:3 Touch me not, for God shall smite you if ye lay your hands upon me, for I have not delivered the message which the Lord sent me to deliver; neither have I told you that which ye requested that I should tell; therefore, God will not suffer that I shall be destroyed at this time.

Mosiah 13:4 But I must fulfil the commandments wherewith God has commanded me; and because I have told you the truth ye are angry with me. And again, because I have spoken the word of God ye have judged me that I am mad.

The Lord protected Abinadi so he could keep the commandments of the Lord.

LDS church says commandments of God changes when things get hard. Also this is an example of the Lord providing a way for the commandments to be kept. 1 Nephi 3:7 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.
Power Mosiah 13:5 Now it came to pass after Abinadi had spoken these words that the people of king Noah durst not lay their hands on him, for the Spirit of the Lord was upon him; and his face shone with exceeding luster, even as Moses’ did while in the mount of Sinai, while speaking with the Lord. Miraculous things happen when the power of God is with you. When is the last time you heard of a mircle coming from the LDS leaders? Now before you say we don’t hear of it because they don’t cast their pearls before the swine. Here is an example of Nephi in the Book of Mormon that the wicked saw him raise his brother from the dead.

3 Nephi 7

18 And it came to pass that they were angry with him, even because he had greater power than they, for it were not possible that they could disbelieve his words, for so great was his faith on the Lord Jesus Christ that angels did minister unto him daily.

19 And in the name of Jesus did he cast out devils and unclean spirits; and even his brother did he raise from the dead, after he had been stoned and suffered death by the people.

20 And the people saw it, and did witness of it, and were angry with him because of his power; and he did also do many more miracles, in the sight of the people, in the name of Jesus.

Authority Mosiah 13:6 And he spake with power and authority from God; and he continued his words, saying:

Mosiah 13:7 Ye see that ye have not power to slay me, therefore I finish my message. Yea, and I perceive that it cuts you to your hearts because I tell you the truth concerning your iniquities.

Abinabi spoke the words of God, aka commandments that came from the finger of God. And they just witnessed a miracle that came from God witnessing of Abinabi’s authority from God.

LDS church quotes men, not the words of God. Nor do they perform miracles.
Wicked don’t like the word of God Mosiah 13:7 Ye see that ye have not power to slay me, therefore I finish my message. Yea, and I perceive that it cuts you to your hearts because I tell you the truth concerning your iniquities.

Mosiah 13:8 Yea, and my words fill you with wonder and amazement, and with anger.

LDS church members don’t like to hear they need to repent, because they think they are the chosen ones. They like the word of God when they hear it, but they will not cleave unto it.
Kingdom of Heaven Mosiah 13:9 But I finish my message; and then it matters not whither I go, if it so be that I am saved.

Not worried about what happens to himself, or what others think.

LDS church is worried about what others think of them. Example Meet the Mormons movie. (It also had no doctrine.)
death Mosiah 13:10 But this much I tell you, what you do with me, after this, shall be as a type and a shadow of things which are to come. Brigham Young helped with killing Joseph Smith, Brigham Young was also killed by close ones, his family a wife and a daughter.

The last admonition of Joseph Smith on June 23, 1844 “This day the Lord has shown to me that which was never shown to me before, that I have thousands of friends that never pretended friendship, while others have sought to crawl into my bosom because of my good feelings towards them, and now are the vipers and do seek my life; and if they shall take it they will pursue you; they will do it anyhow….I therefore will say unto you Saints and Elders of Israel:…you will yet be called upon to go forth and call upon the free men from Maine to gather themselves together to the Rocky Mountains; and the Redmen from the West and all people from the North and from the South and from the East, and go to the West, to establish themselves in the strongholds of their gathering places, *and there you will gather the Redmen to their center from their scattered and dispersed situation, to become the strong arm of Jehovah.” Comprehensive History of the Church, Vol.1, Ch.26, p.318 – p.319

Commandments of God Mosiah 13:11 And now I read unto you the remainder of the commandments of God, for I perceive that they are not written in your hearts; I perceive that ye have studied and taught iniquity the most part of your lives.

Mosiah 13:12-24

Teaching the commandments of God

LDS church needs to be reminded of the commandments of God, they don’t teach them. One supposed commandment of God they are known for is the Word of Wisdom but LDS D&C 89:2 says “not by commandment nor constraint” but taking away privileges for not following their interpretation is constraint. D&C 89:5 use wine for the sacrament, D&C 89:17 mild barley drinks aka beer are good for men.
Taking the Lord’s name in vain Mosiah 13:15 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Swearing is not taking the Lord’s name in vain as taught in the LDS church. Taking the Lord’s name in vain is saying that the Lord said something when in actuality he did not. LDS leaders have said many times in history that the Lord said something that he did not say. And years later the new LDS leaders say that was just their opinion.
Teaching the commandments of God Mosiah 13:25 And it came to pass that after Abinadi had made an end of these sayings that he said unto them: Have ye taught this people that they should observe to do all these things for to keep these commandments?
Mosiah 13:26 I say unto you, Nay; for if ye had, the Lord would not have caused me to come forth and to prophesy evil concerning this people.
LDS church likes to focus on cute stories and not on the commandments of God like the 10 commandments.
Salvation Mosiah 13:27-35

Mosiah 13:28 And moreover, I say unto you, that salvation doth not come by the law alone; and were it not for the atonement, which God himself shall make for the sins and iniquities of his people, that they must unavoidably perish, notwithstanding the law of Moses.

Mosiah 13:30 Therefore there was a law given them, yea, a law of performances and of ordinances, a law which they were to observe strictly from day to day, to keep them in remembrance of God and their duty towards him.

Mosiah 13:32 And now, did they understand the law? I say unto you, Nay, they did not all understand the law; and this because of the hardness of their hearts; for they understood not that there could not any man be saved except it were through the redemption of God.

Need to keep the law, but that is not where salvation comes from. Salvation comes through Jesus Christ.

LDS church teaches we need to do temple ordinances to be saved. Instead of focusing on using the atonement of Jesus Christ and becoming like him.
Appearance Mosiah 14

1 Yea, even doth not Isaiah say: Who hath believed our report, and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground; he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him there is no beauty that we should desire him.

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Because of the was Jesus dressed and did he was rejected.

LDS church focuses on looks, leaders have very COSTLY apparel. LDS church really does not pay attention to Christ or his revealed doctrine in the scriptures.
astray Mosiah 14:6 All we, like sheep, have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquities of us all. LDS church has gone astray, and are doing things how they want too and not how the Lord wants it done.
Oppressed

Defended not

Mosiah 14:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb so he opened not his mouth. LDS church oppresses the poor and humble.
LDS church is also very concerned about looking good to the world.
To God Mosiah 14:8 He was taken from prison and from judgment; and who shall declare his generation? For he was cut off out of the land of the living; for the transgressions of my people was he stricken. LDS church focus on bring people to their church instead of bringing them to God.
Among the People Mosiah 14:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no evil, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

Christ went among the wicked to help them, even to the extreme as being part of his last act in mortality, he never stopped doing it.

LDS church and members don’t want anything to do with people who don’t fit their made up standards. Including to the point of denying LITTLE CHILDREN baptism if they want it and the parents consent and one parent is LBGT.
offering Mosiah 14:10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief; when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

Without trials you cannot know what kind of person you are. If you were not tested or challenged you could not choose to keep the law. After you choose to keep the law you get your reward.

LDS church takes instead of offers. LDS church gives hardly anything to the poor.
Salvation Mosiah 14:11 He shall see the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied; by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.  Salvation is through Jesus Christ only. There is no man standing between anyone and Jesus Christ.
God’s Law Mosiah 14:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death; and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bore the sins of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Because he decided to follow God’s law and to break man’s law he is considered a transgressor.

LDS church makes the Law of God null and void by their false traditions.
fullness Mosiah 15:1 And now Abinadi said unto them: I would that ye should understand that God himself shall come down among the children of men, and shall redeem his people.

Jesus Christ mortal ministry, and more importantly Jesus Christ still comes down to earth to minister to the children of men face to face that he may redeem his people.

LDS church does not teach and rejects the fullness of the gospel.

Helaman 8:23 And behold, he is God, and he is with them, and he did manifest himself unto them, that they were redeemed by him; and they gave unto him glory, because of that which is to come.

Mosiah 15:2-4
Bridle passions Mosiah 15:5 And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the Son to the Father, being one God, suffereth temptation, and yieldeth not to the temptation, but suffereth himself to be mocked, and scourged, and cast out, and disowned by his people. Brigham Young and his priests did not bridle their passions. BY was far from it, he had around 56 wives. That is more than one wife each week of the year. He saw a women he wanted and he literally found a way to get her. To the point of breaking up families because he had more priesthood.
Miracles Mosiah 15:6 And after all this, after working many mighty miracles among the children of men, he shall be led, yea, even as Isaiah said, as a sheep before the shearer is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.

Even after mighty miracles the priestcraft did not recognize Christ.

LDS church does not believe in modern miracles.
Treating of humble of heart Mosiah 15:6 And after all this, after working many mighty miracles among the children of men, he shall be led, yea, even as Isaiah said, as a sheep before the shearer is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.

This is how the priestcraft treated the example of humble of heart.

LDS church mocks the humble in heart
subjection Mosiah 15:7 Yea, even so he shall be led, crucified, and slain, the flesh becoming subject even unto death, the will of the Son being swallowed up in the will of the Father.

Mosiah 15:5 And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the Son to the Father, being one God, suffereth temptation, and yieldeth not to the temptation, but suffereth himself to be mocked, and scourged, and cast out, and disowned by his people.

Christ subjected himself to men. We are to be like Jesus Christ. This is also a powerful example of flesh obeying the spirit. Christ followed the law even when it was hard, even to death, the law did not change because it was hard.

LDS church wants to subject men to them, instead of serving others.

LDS church says that God changes the commandments when things get hard.

Intermediary Mosiah 15:8 And thus God breaketh the bands of death, having gained the victory over death; giving the Son power to make intercession for the children of men—

Mosiah 15:9 Having ascended into heaven, having the bowels of mercy; being filled with compassion towards the children of men; standing betwixt them and justice; having broken the bands of death, taken upon himself their iniquity and their transgressions, having redeemed them, and satisfied the demands of justice.

Jesus Christ stands between me and the Father. And no one stands between me and Jesus Christ, not even a church.

LDS church teaches that salvations comes by being a member of their church. And even says the dead have to join to gain salvations. They say they are the gate keeper instead of Jesus Christ.

2 Nephi 9:41 O then, my beloved brethren, come unto the Lord, the Holy One. Remember that his paths are righteous. Behold, the way for man is narrow, but it lieth in a straight course before him, and the keeper of the gate is the Holy One of Israel; and he employeth no servant there; and there is none other way save it be by the gate; for he cannot be deceived, for the Lord God is his name.

Christ’s seed Mosiah 15

10 And now I say unto you, who shall declare his generation? Behold, I say unto you, that when his soul has been made an offering for sin he shall see his seed. And now what say ye? And who shall be his seed?

11 Behold I say unto you, that whosoever has heard the words of the prophets, yea, all the holy prophets who have prophesied concerning the coming of the Lord—I say unto you, that all those who have hearkened unto their words, and believed that the Lord would redeem his people, and have looked forward to that day for a remission of their sins, I say unto you, that these are his seed, or they are the heirs of the kingdom of God.

12 For these are they whose sins he has borne; these are they for whom he has died, to redeem them from their transgressions. And now, are they not his seed?

Jesus Christ seeds are those who hear the words of God and follow the commandments of God.

LDS church teaches that even if you follow the commandments of God if you are not a member of their church you are going to live with God. On top of that they don’t teach us God’s commandments, but to follow their leader a man, the arm of flesh, and that commandments change.
Even prophets can fall Mosiah 15:13 Yea, and are not the prophets, every one that has opened his mouth to prophesy, that has not fallen into transgression, I mean all the holy prophets ever since the world began? I say unto you that they are his seed.

One thing Abinadi is teaching here is that prophets can fall.

LDS church teaches that prophets are perfect. Abinadi is telling us that some prophets have fallen into transgression.
God’s peace, the fullness Mosiah 15

14 And these are they who have published peace, who have brought good tidings of good, who have published salvation; and said unto Zion: Thy God reigneth!

15 And O how beautiful upon the mountains were their feet!

16 And again, how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those that are still publishing peace!

17 And again, how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those who shall hereafter publish peace, yea, from this time henceforth and forever!

18 And behold, I say unto you, this is not all. For O how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that is the founder of peace, yea, even the Lord, who has redeemed his people; yea, him who has granted salvation unto his people;

Beautiful are the feet of those who declare repentance such that they may receive God’s peace to have abode with Him, that teach how we can be in Jesus’s presence now in the flesh.

LDS church suppresses the fullness of the gospel. They don’t say they had it, and when asked they say they won’t talk about it. They don’t teach it. …
Source of peace Mosiah 15:18 And behold, I say unto you, this is not all. For O how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that is the founder of peace, yea, even the Lord, who has redeemed his people; yea, him who has granted salvation unto his people;

Peace comes from Jesus Christ directly

Peace comes from Jesus Christ directly not from being in a building like a temple.
Salvation Mosiah 15
19 For were it not for the redemption which he hath made for his people, which was prepared from the foundation of the world, I say unto you, were it not for this, all mankind must have perished.20 But behold, the bands of death shall be broken, and the Son reigneth, and hath power over the dead; therefore, he bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead.

21 And there cometh a resurrection, even a first resurrection; yea, even a resurrection of those that have been, and who are, and who shall be, even until the resurrection of Christ—for so shall he be called.

Salvation is through Jesus Christ and his resurrection.

Salvation is not through a church or giving it tithing, or other dead works.
Commandments Mosiah 15

22 And now, the resurrection of all the prophets, and all those that have believed in their words, or all those that have kept the commandments of God, shall come forth in the first resurrection; therefore, they are the first resurrection.

23 They are raised to dwell with God who has redeemed them; thus they have eternal life through Christ, who has broken the bands of death.

Salvation is by the grace of God and it is given to those who follow God’s commandments

LDS church does not focus on following God’s commandments, they do focus on following men’s policies and warm and fuzzy feelings.
Redemption of the ignorant Mosiah 15

24 And these are those who have part in the first resurrection; and these are they that have died before Christ came, in their ignorance, not having salvation declared unto them. And thus the Lord bringeth about the restoration of these; and they have a part in the first resurrection, or have eternal life, being redeemed by the Lord.

25 And little children also have eternal life.

LDS church teaches people need temple ordinances to be saved and that mankind can repent after they die. I see the BoM teach something else.

Mosiah 15:26 But behold, and fear, and tremble before God, for ye ought to tremble; for the Lord redeemeth none such that rebel against him and die in their sins; yea, even all those that have perished in their sins ever since the world began, that have wilfully rebelled against God, that have known the commandments of God, and would not keep them; these are they that have no part in the first resurrection.

Must stop sinning Mosiah 15

26 But behold, and fear, and tremble before God, for ye ought to tremble; for the Lord redeemeth none such that rebel against him and die in their sins; yea, even all those that have perished in their sins ever since the world began, that have wilfully rebelled against God, that have known the commandments of God, and would not keep them; these are they that  have no part in the first resurrection.

27 Therefore ought ye not to tremble? For salvation cometh to none such; for the Lord hath redeemed none such; yea, neither can the Lord redeem such; for he cannot deny himself; for he cannot deny justice when it has its claim.

God saves no one in their sins.

LDS D&C 132:26 teaches if you have entered into the new and everlasting covenant you can sin and still go to heaven 2 Nephi 28:8 says something different.
Everyone Mosiah 15:28 And now I say unto you that the time shall come that the salvation of the Lord shall be declared to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people. LDS church has policies not to preach to the Lamanites and to the Jews, and probably others because of agreements they have with others.
Everyone shall know Mosiah 15:29 Yea, Lord, thy watchmen shall lift up their voice; with the voice together shall they sing; for they shall see eye to eye, when the Lord shall bring again Zion.

Mosiah 15:30 Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem; for the Lord hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.

Mosiah 15:31 The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

This is talking about when everyone shall know the Lord.

LDS church discourages face to face with God. They even say trust us, we know what we are doing. Instead of counseling with everyone so everyone understands seeing eye to eye.
Everyone Mosiah 16:1 And now, it came to pass that after Abinadi had spoken these words he stretched forth his hand and said: The time shall come when all shall see the salvation of the Lord; when every nation, kindred, tongue, and people shall see eye to eye and shall confess before God that his judgments are just.

This verse has multiple meanings

LDS denied blacks, and currently denying LITTLE children of gay parents.
God’s law Mosiah 16:2 And then shall the wicked be cast out, and they shall have cause to howl, and weep, and wail, and gnash their teeth; and this because they would not hearken unto the voice of the Lord; therefore the Lord redeemeth them not.

Cannot listen to God’s voice and a man’s voice at the same time, especially when the man’s voice is saying something contrary to God’s voice

LDS church focus on man’s voice and commandments making God’s law null and void
 All are fallen Mosiah 16

3 For they are carnal and devilish, and the devil has power over them; yea, even that old serpent that did beguile our first parents, which was the cause of their fall; which was the cause of all mankind becoming carnal, sensual, devilish, knowing evil from good, subjecting themselves to the devil.

4 Thus all mankind were lost; and behold, they would have been endlessly lost were it not that God redeemed his people from their lost and fallen state.

Abinadi is telling us that prophets can and have fallen into transgression. Not to follow a prophet he can not lead you astray.

Mosiah 15:13 Yea, and are not the prophets, every one that has opened his mouth to prophesy, that has not fallen into transgression, I mean all the holy prophets ever since the world began? I say unto you that they are his seed.

Becoming a new creature Mosiah 16:5 But remember that he that persists in his own carnal nature, and goes on in the ways of sin and rebellion against God, remaineth in his fallen state and the devil hath all power over him. Therefore he is as though there was no redemption made, being an enemy to God; and also is the devil an enemy to God.

Yes we have need to be baptized, but if we continue in our sins it availeth nothing.

LDS church says we need to be baptized into their church to be saved, they don’t talk about how we need to stop sinning, in fact they say we need to continual repent, yes we need to repent, but not of the same thing, we need to get to the point where we are not sinning anymore.
Salvation Mosiah 16
6 And now if Christ had not come into the world, speaking of things to come as though they had already come, there could have been no redemption.7 And if Christ had not risen from the dead, or have broken the bands of death that the grave should have no victory, and that death should have no sting, there could have been no resurrection.

8 But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ.

The focus should be on Christ and Christ also not some man prophet. Jesus is my mediator between me and the Father. There is no man mediator between me and Jesus Christ.
Light Mosiah 16:9 He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that there can be no more death.

Jesus Christ is the light of the world. We are to let our light shine yes, but at the same time we should be giving the glory to God and pointing people to God not some arm of flesh.

LDS church wants to be a light, and wants us to follow a man instead of focusing on ONLY following God. Words of God should be harkened no matter where they come from, we should not follow the man/women the words come from. Priestcraft is when someone sets themselves up as a light and gets paid, LDS GA and Mission Presidents get paid from tithing money.
Works Mosiah 16:10 Even this mortal shall put on immortality, and this corruption shall put on incorruption, and shall be brought to stand before the bar of God, to be judged of him according to their works whether they be good or whether they be evil—

Mosiah 16:11 If they be good, to the resurrection of endless life and happiness; and if they be evil, to the resurrection of endless damnation, being delivered up to the devil, who hath subjected them, which is damnation—

Scriptures never say you are judged by what church you join, but you are judged by what you do, particularly to other people (what you have done to others you have done unto me).

LDS church focuses on being members of their church and temple, but yet the scriptures never say you will be judged by what church you are a member of, it is by your works that you are judged not how many times you go to the temple.
Prayer and Mercy Mosiah 16:12 Having gone according to their own carnal wills and desires; having never called upon the Lord while the arms of mercy were extended towards them; for the arms of mercy were extended towards them, and they would not; they being warned of their iniquities and yet they would not depart from them; and they were commanded to repent and yet they would not repent.

All we can do is repent (See Alma 24:11). Pray to God about everything.

LDS church teaches trust us, yea you can pray, but we won’t lead you astray so you don’t need to worry about praying and checking in with God about this because I represent God, he’ll never say something other than what we are telling you so you don’t need to worry about it.

LDS church doesn’t teach repentance as that would require that they would need to teach some commandments of God. They teach go to the Temple instead, (which by the way you have to pay them to go inside of it).

ONLY in and through Christ Mosiah 16:13 And now, ought ye not to tremble and repent of your sins, and remember that only in and through Christ ye can be saved? LDS church teaches that you need their church to be saved, and that it is NOT ONLY in and through Christ that you can be saved.
God’s law Mosiah 16:14 Therefore, if ye teach the law of Moses, also teach that it is a shadow of those things which are to come—

Mosiah 16:15 Teach them that redemption cometh through Christ the Lord, who is the very Eternal Father. Amen.

The LDS church doesn’t really teach the law of God. Sure it teaches some so it looks like it is. But it sure the heck does not teach Mosiah 23:7 … for thus saith the Lord: Ye shall not esteem one flesh above another, or one man shall not think himself above another; … there are protocols when LDS GA are around which are basically to give them homage to put them above everyone else around and to make sure everyone else knows it. (See Alma 1:26 and Alma 5:54 for more witnesses of this teaching.) In addition I know of NO scripture that says you should not drink of beer in fact I know the scripture they say says that actually says that beer is good for men. No matter what you think that D&C 89 teaches, lets not forget verse 2 not by commandment or constraint, but the LDS church constrains you to follow their interpretation of the WoW to go into the temple and to “serve” the people aka callings. No focus on administering to the poor, FYI administering is a very personal thing, not someone you have someone else do.
Get rid of Mosiah 17:1 And now it came to pass that when Abinadi had finished these sayings, that the king commanded that the priests should take him and cause that he should be put to death. LDS church seeks to get rid of those who stand up against the status quo
iniquity Mosiah 17

2 But there was one among them whose name was Alma, he also being a descendant of Nephi. And he was a young man, and he believed the words which Abinadi had spoken, for he knew concerning the iniquity which Abinadi had testified against them; therefore he began to plead with the king that he would not be angry with Abinadi, but suffer that he might depart in peace.

3 But the king was more wroth, and caused that Alma should be cast out from among them, and sent his servants after him that they might slay him.

4 But he fled from before them and hid himself that they found him not. And he being concealed for many days did write all the words which Abinadi had spoken.

Alma was most likely not so engrained into their policies. But still believe the word of God for what it is.

LDS church will cast you out if you stick to the scriptures instead of following ideas of men. LDS members make excuses for not helping the poor, such as they need to learn to take care of themselves despite the fact the Mosiah 4 talks of us all being beggars.
One last doctrine Mosiah 17

5 And it came to pass that the king caused that his guards should surround Abinadi and take him; and they bound him and cast him into prison.

6 And after three days, having counseled with his priests, he caused that he should again be brought before him.

7 And he said unto him: Abinadi, we have found an accusation against thee, and thou art worthy of death.

8 For thou hast said that God himself should come down among the children of men; and now, for this cause thou shalt be put to death unless thou wilt recall all the words which thou hast spoken evil concerning me and my people.

The priests did not care about true doctrine, in fact the last part of verse 8 shows that they don’t care what doctrine you teach as long as you don’t call them out for doing something wrong.

There is one last doctrine in the LDS church that the leaders will not lead you astray or cause you to do something wrong. If you believe that it doesn’t matter what you teach, even publically.
Second Comforter Mosiah 17:8 For thou hast said that God himself should come down among the children of men; and now, for this cause thou shalt be put to death unless thou wilt recall all the words which thou hast spoken evil concerning me and my people.

There are two ways that Jesus comes among the children of men. The most obvious one is that He is born of Marry. The second one is that “shall manifest himself unto you in the flesh” (2 Nephi 31:6 among others) meaning you shall come to you and minister to you personally.

Joseph Smith talked of the Second Comforter openly and publicly, the apostles were charged to testify of seeing God face to face in their original ordination, but today it’s something you can’t ask or talk about.
Staying true Mosiah 17

9 Now Abinadi said unto him: I say unto you, I will not recall the words which I have spoken unto you concerning this people, for they are true; and that ye may know of their surety I have suffered myself that I have fallen into your hands.

10 Yea, and I will suffer even until death, and I will not recall my words, and they shall stand as a testimony against you. And if ye slay me ye will shed innocent blood, and this shall also stand as a testimony against you at the last day.

Abinadi would not recall his words even when others did not like them.

Here is a recent example of the LDS church recalling their own words that was leaked to their own members and public. The child of a gay parent cannot be baptized. After the wording in the Church Handbook of Instruction book 1, which only leaders have access too, the church admitted it said that, and then changed it. They did not stand strong to the supposed revelation from God. (Which by the way if it was God’s words that caused the policy in the first place, they should have published the words of God see 3 Nephi 11:41 and D&C 72:21.)
Ideas of Men vs God’s words Mosiah 17

11 And now king Noah was about to release him, for he feared his word; for he feared that the judgments of God would come upon him.

12 But the priests lifted up their voices against him, and began to accuse him, saying: He has reviled the king. Therefore the king was stirred up in anger against him, and he delivered him up that he might be slain.

King Noah, although wicked, was going to listen to Abinadi but he was talked out of it by priests he trusted. In the end King Noah decided to listen to the ideas of men instead the word of God.

LDS leaders and LDS members talk away the commandments of God and say come up with ways of saying it doesn’t really mean that. Such as the warning against wearing costly apparel, I’ve heard people explain that away and that they are not robbing the poor when they buy expensive clothes even though the scriptures say that.
 Treatment Mosiah 17

13 And it came to pass that they took him and bound him, and scourged his skin with faggots, yea, even unto death.

14 And now when the flames began to scorch him, he cried unto them, saying:

Lets be very careful not to treat anyone like this regardless if they believe the same way we do or not.
Cause pain to others Mosiah 17:15 Behold, even as ye have done unto me, so shall it come to pass that thy seed shall cause that many shall suffer the pains that I do suffer, even the pains of death by fire; and this because they believe in the salvation of the Lord their God. The LDS church kicks humble followers of Christ out of their church. They even ridicule them.
Diseases Mosiah 17:16 And it will come to pass that ye shall be afflicted with all manner of diseases because of your iniquities. I have come across that the LDS church had problems with diseases in it’s early history.
Driven and scattered. Mosiah 17:17 Yea, and ye shall be smitten on every hand, and shall be driven and scattered to and fro, even as a wild flock is driven by wild and ferocious beasts. I think anyone familiar with early Brighamite history knows that they were driven west. And once west there were multiple break offs that scattered.
Hunted Mosiah 17: 18 And in that day ye shall be hunted, and ye shall be taken by the hand of your enemies, and then ye shall suffer, as I suffer, the pains of death by fire. LDS leaders and members were hunted down for the things they did.
Vengeance. Mosiah 17:19 Thus God executeth vengeance upon those that destroy his people. O God, receive my soul. There are many parallel to what happen with King Noah’s people and the Brighamites. In fact if they would have finished the temple the Lord promised them protection from their enemies.
Would not deny Mosiah 17:20 And now, when Abinadi had said these words, he fell, having suffered death by fire; yea, having been put to death because he would not deny the commandments of God, having sealed the truth of his words by his death.

Abinadi stayed true to the commandments of God even to the point of giving up his life. (Earlier God protected Abinadi such that he could deliver the message that he was commanded to deliver.)

When things get hard the LDS church does not stay true to what they believe is true, a new “revelation” comes from God telling them they don’t need to follow that commandment anymore, despite the fact the scriptures teach when we follow God’s commandments we receive his protection.
Secret Mosiah 18

1 And now, it came to pass that Alma, who had fled from the servants of king Noah, repented of his sins and iniquities, and went about privately among the people, and began to teach the words of Abinadi—

2 Yea, concerning that which was to come, and also concerning the resurrection of the dead, and the redemption of the people, which was to be brought to pass through the power, and sufferings, and death of Christ, and his resurrection and ascension into heaven.

Just as today if you teach things different than the narrative of those who believe they are in authority you have to be careful, as the LDS church will punish you for teaching things from the scriptures that contradict their current version of the gospel. In addition have you even noticed at times instead of focusing on scriptures on the subject at hand, they focus more on obedience instead. How can you be obedient to God’s commandments if we don’t know what the scriptures actually teach about them?
Teaching Mosiah 18:3 And as many as would hear his word he did teach. And he taught them privately, that it might not come to the knowledge of the king. And many did believe his words.

Alma taught all who wanted to hear.

LDS church does not teach nor baptize all that will hear. The LDS church has policies not to teach poor American Indians, Jews in Jerusalem, children of LBGT parents, children of polygamous families are a few I know of.
Teaching Mosiah 18

4 And it came to pass that as many as did believe him did go forth to a place which was called Mormon, having received its name from the king, being in the borders of the land having been infested, by times or at seasons, by wild beasts.

5 Now, there was in Mormon a fountain of pure water, and Alma resorted thither, there being near the water a thicket of small trees, where he did hide himself in the daytime from the searches of the king.

6 And it came to pass that as many as believed him went thither to hear his words.

7 And it came to pass after many days there were a goodly number gathered together at the place of Mormon, to hear the words of Alma. Yea, all were gathered together that believed on his word, to hear him. And he did teach them, and did preach unto them repentance, and redemption, and faith on the Lord.

LDS top leaders do not teach people in person. They have body guards to project them. Alma with the real threat of the king taught the people in person despite the dangers he was in.
Bear one another’s burdens Mosiah 18

8 And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of Mormon (for thus were they called) and now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;

9 Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection, that ye may have eternal life—

Although the LDS church members are fairly good with this with themselves or others who are looking to join their church, this is not the case for those who don’t believe the same as them or those who have left their church. I personally see no requirement in being a member of a specific church before you help someone.
Mosiah 18:10 Now I say unto you, if this be the desire of your hearts, what have you against being baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness before him that ye have entered into a covenant with him, that ye will serve him and keep his commandments, that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you? The LDS church teaches to have the spirit abundantly you have to be confirmed by the laying on of hands into their church, where this verse is saying everyone has the spirit of God abundantly and if you want His Spirit MORE ABUNDANTLY to be baptized. How could it be more if it was not abundantly beforehand?
Authority Mosiah 18

11 And now when the people had heard these words, they clapped their hands for joy, and exclaimed: This is the desire of our hearts.

12 And now it came to pass that Alma took Helam, he being one of the first, and went and stood forth in the water, and cried, saying: O Lord, pour out thy Spirit upon thy servant, that he may do this work with holiness of heart.

13 And when he had said these words, the Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he said: Helam, I baptize thee, having authority from the Almighty God, as a testimony that ye have entered into a covenant to serve him until you are dead as to the mortal body; and may the Spirit of the Lord be poured out upon you; and may he grant unto you eternal life, through the redemption of Christ, whom he has prepared from the foundation of the world.

Where did Alma get his authority to baptize, as he just came out of an apostate church? I honestly don’t see how he could have gotten it from another man. But perhaps he got it from God himself. The best I can make of these verse is that Alma prayed and then the spirit was upon him.

Thus we behold the keys of this Priesthood consisted in obtaining the voice of Jehovah that He talked with him [Noah] in a familiar and friendly manner, that He continued to him the keys, the covenants, the power and the glory, with which He blessed Adam. – TPJS, pg. 171

Baptism Mosiah 18

14 And after Alma had said these words, both Alma and Helam were buried in the water; and they arose and came forth out of the water rejoicing, being filled with the Spirit.

15 And again, Alma took another, and went forth a second time into the water, and baptized him according to the first, only he did not bury himself again in the water.

I’ve never seen an LDS baptism this way, wonder how they would react if they saw one done this way, especially considering it’s in the BoM.
Baptism Mosiah 18:16 And after this manner he did baptize every one that went forth to the place of Mormon; and they were in number about two hundred and four souls; yea, and they were baptized in the waters of Mormon, and were filled with the grace of God. Alma baptized in living water aka pure natural moving water, LDS church uses stagnant water nor natural water but water filled with fluoride and other chemicals.
Name of Church Mosiah 18:17 And they were called the church of God, or the church of Christ, from that time forward. And it came to pass that whosoever was baptized by the power and authority of God was added to his church. Just in case you did not know the LDS church has changed it’s name multiple times, and at least once that I know of the name did not have God or Christ in it.
Authority Mosiah 18:18 And it came to pass that Alma, having authority from God, ordained priests; even one priest to every fifty of their number did he ordain to preach unto them, and to teach them concerning the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. I don’t see how Alma got authority from another man as he just came from an apostate church. I believe Alma got authority directly from God.
Another point to keep in mind there are at least two other churches of God at this time, if not others, the church in Zarahemla, and the church in the old world.
What to teach Mosiah 18

19 And he commanded them that they should teach nothing save it were the things which he had taught, and which had been spoken by the mouth of the holy prophets.

20 Yea, even he commanded them that they should preach nothing save it were repentance and faith on the Lord, who had redeemed his people.

LDS leaders have speculated on much which is not in the scriptures. Perhaps they should have not done that, as Alma had nothing taught other than what was in the scriptures.
One Faith Mosiah 18
21 And he commanded them that there should be no contention one with another, but that they should look forward with one eye, having one faith and one baptism, having their hearts knit together in unity and in love one towards another.22 And thus he commanded them to preach. And thus they became the children of God.
I see LDS members all the time quoting LDS leaders to show what they believe all the time, and another member quoting another LDS leader teaching something contrary to the first. I’ve even seen LDS leaders contradict themselves in the same conference session. This to me does not sound like one faith.
Sabbath Mosiah 18:23 And he commanded them that they should observe the sabbath day, and keep it holy, and also every day they should give thanks to the Lord their God. Yes I know the LDS church says to keep the Sabbath day holy. I personally believe the Sabbath is determined by the Lunar cycle as it was anciently. Wayne May has come by evidence that the Lehites followed the Lunar Month.
Priestcraft Mosiah 18:24 And he also commanded them that the priests whom he had ordained should labor with their own hands for their support. Although the LDS church leaders say they have no paid local ministry, the non-local leadership is paid. I only know of no-local leaders preaching is general conference.
Mosiah 18:25
Priestcraft Mosiah 18:26 And the priests were not to depend upon the people for their support; but for their labor they were to receive the grace of God, that they might wax strong in the Spirit, having the knowledge of God, that they might teach with power and authority from God. The high priest of the LDS church receives money for his labor in the church. Also mission pres and higher in the LDS church receive momentary compensation for their labor despite what this verses says we should be doing.
Giving Mosiah 18

27 And again Alma commanded that the people of the church should impart of their substance, every one according to that which he had; if he have more abundantly he should impart more abundantly; and of him that had but little, but little should be required; and to him that had not should be given.

28 And thus they should impart of their substance of their own free will and good desires towards God, and to those priests that stood in need, yea, and to every needy, naked soul.

29 And this he said unto them, having been commanded of God; and they did walk uprightly before God, imparting to one another both temporally and spiritually according to their needs and their wants.

LDS church requires even the poor to give despite what JS and the Bible has taught. I know of many stories the LDS church requires those who do not have to give to a rich church.

Shortly after Joseph received the revelation in section 119, he assigned Brigham Young to go among the Saints “and find out what surplus property the people had, with which to forward the building of the Temple we were commencing at Far West.” Before setting out, Brigham asked Joseph, “‘Who shall be the judge of what is surplus property?’ Said he, ‘Let them be the judges themselves.’”

1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Focus Mosiah 18:30 And now it came to pass that all this was done in Mormon, yea, by the waters of Mormon, in the forest that was near the waters of Mormon; yea, the place of Mormon, the waters of Mormon, the forest of Mormon, how beautiful are they to the eyes of them who there came to the knowledge of their Redeemer; yea, and how blessed are they, for they shall sing to his praise forever. The focus should be on Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer not a prophet of God that has no power to save us.
Secret Mosiah 18:31 And these things were done in the borders of the land, that they might not come to the knowledge of the king. Those who are not satisfied with the LDS church have to do it in secret otherwise the LDS church will force their authority on them instead of persuading them of what they believe is the truth.
Movement among the people. Mosiah 18

32 But behold, it came to pass that the king, having discovered a movement among the people, sent his servants to watch them. Therefore on the day that they were assembling themselves together to hear the word of the Lord they were discovered unto the king.

33 And now the king said that Alma was stirring up the people to rebellion against him; therefore he sent his army to destroy them.

34 And it came to pass that Alma and the people of the Lord were apprised of the coming of the king’s army; therefore they took their tents and their families and departed into the wilderness.

35 And they were in number about four hundred and fifty souls.

LDS leaders have discovered movements among them of people wanting to follow the word of God instead of the false traditions. And they have done conferences and talks to try convince those who have stayed that they are they are the only representatives of God and that these dissenters are rebelling against them.

Also the LDS church has a Strengthening the Members department that watches over the members and disciplines them.

Mosiah 19:1
 division  Mosiah 19

2 And now behold, the forces of the king were small, having been reduced, and there began to be a division among the remainder of the people.

3 And the lesser part began to breathe out threatenings against the king, and there began to be a great contention among them.

There is a growing division among the people of the LDS church regarding various doctrinal points. A few are starting to speak out against the wrongs the LDS leaders have been doing.
Contention Mosiah 19

4 And now there was a man among them whose name was Gideon, and he being a strong man and an enemy to the king, therefore he drew his sword, and swore in his wrath that he would slay the king.

5 And it came to pass that he fought with the king; and when the king saw that he was about to overpower him, he fled and ran and got upon the tower which was near the temple.

6 And Gideon pursued after him and was about to get upon the tower to slay the king, and the king cast his eyes round about towards the land of Shemlon, and behold, the army of the Lamanites were within the borders of the land.

Despite the picture that is painted today regarding the early LDS leaders being in agreement, that was not the case. Brigham Young and other leaders were in disagreement about many things including things that Joseph Smith taught. In fact regarding in one occasion Brigham Young ran to the St George temple to make sure his views were put in the temple endowment despite the fact many of the other leaders opposed the teachings publicly.
War Mosiah 19:4-15

7 And now the king cried out in the anguish of his soul, saying: Gideon, spare me, for the Lamanites are upon us, and they will destroy us; yea, they will destroy my people.

8 And now the king was not so much concerned about his people as he was about his own life; nevertheless, Gideon did spare his life.

9 And the king commanded the people that they should flee before the Lamanites, and he himself did go before them, and they did flee into the wilderness, with their women and their children.

10 And it came to pass that the Lamanites did pursue them, and did overtake them, and began to slay them.

This reminds me of the Utah War. The federal government sent an army to get Brigham Young to relinquish his authority in the state that he had been abusing. And he fought against them.
Abandoning the people Mosiah 19

11 Now it came to pass that the king commanded them that all the men should leave their wives and their children, and flee before the Lamanites.

12 Now there were many that would not leave them, but had rather stay and perish with them. And the rest left their wives and their children and fled.

During the Utah War after Brigham Young realized that he could not win he made plans to burn Salt Lake City, if that is not a type of abandonment I don’t know what is.
War Mosiah

13 And it came to pass that those who tarried with their wives and their children caused that their fair daughters should stand forth and plead with the Lamanites that they would not slay them.

14 And it came to pass that the Lamanites had compassion on them, for they were charmed with the beauty of their women.

I believe in general the federal government had compassion on the Brighamites.
War Mosiah 19:15 Therefore the Lamanites did spare their lives, and took them captives and carried them back to the land of Nephi, and granted unto them that they might possess the land, under the conditions that they would deliver up king Noah into the hands of the Lamanites, and deliver up their property, even one half of all they possessed, one half of their gold, and their silver, and all their precious things, and thus they should pay tribute to the king of the Lamanites from year to year. Just as Noahites lost to the Lamanites, the Brighamites lost to the federal government. And Brigham Young was removed from being the governor and had to pay taxes.
Bad leadership Mosiah 19

16 And now there was one of the sons of the king among those that were taken captive, whose name was Limhi.

17 And now Limhi was desirous that his father should not be destroyed; nevertheless, Limhi was not ignorant of the iniquities of his father, he himself being a just man.

In early LDS leader journals they talk about the reason they did not have another president after Brigham Young died was because the fact that Brigham Young did so many bad things and they did not want that to happen again.
Death Mosiah 19

18 And it came to pass that Gideon sent men into the wilderness secretly, to search for the king and those that were with him. And it came to pass that they met the people in the wilderness, all save the king and his priests.

19 Now they had sworn in their hearts that they would return to the land of Nephi, and if their wives and their children were slain, and also those that had tarried with them, that they would seek revenge, and also perish with them.

20 And the king commanded them that they should not return; and they were angry with the king, and caused that he should suffer, even unto death by fire.

Many were not happy with what Brigham Young did in many instances, and were very angry with him. His own family poisoned him showing the multitude of problems and there severity.
Polygamy Mosiah 19:21 And they were about to take the priests also and put them to death, and they fled before them. Even after the LDS church completely stopped practicing polygamy, after lying about it under oath, there are break offs from the LDS church that still practice it.
Mosiah 19:22
Death Mosiah 19:23 And the people told the men of Gideon that they had slain the king, and his priests had fled from them farther into the wilderness. Just as King Noah was killed by his own people so was Brigham Young, so much so it was done by one of his wives and daughters.
Mosiah 19:24
Mosiah 19:25 And it came to pass that the king of the Lamanites made an oath unto them, that his people should not slay them. In 1858 the new governor declared the Utah War over and issues a blanket amnesty.
Taxes Mosiah 19

26 And also Limhi, being the son of the king, having the kingdom conferred upon him by the people, made oath unto the king of the Lamanites that his people should pay tribute unto him, even one half of all they possessed.

27 And it came to pass that Limhi began to establish the kingdom and to establish peace among his people.

Taxes and later leader did establish peace with the government
guards Mosiah 19:28 And the king of the Lamanites set guards round about the land, that he might keep the people of Limhi in the land, that they might not depart into the wilderness; and he did support his guards out of the tribute which he did receive from the Nephites. The USA sent the military to Salt Lake City, UT to keep an eye on the Brighamites.
Peace Mosiah 19:29 And now king Limhi did have continual peace in his kingdom for the space of two years, that the Lamanites did not molest them nor seek to destroy them. The Brighamites with the new governor did experience some peace for a period of time.
continuance of the practicing polygamy Mosiah 20

1 Now there was a place in Shemlon where the daughters of the Lamanites did gather themselves together to sing, and to dance, and to make themselves merry.

2 And it came to pass that there was one day a small number of them gathered together to sing and to dance.

3 And now the priests of king Noah, being ashamed to return to the city of Nephi, yea, and also fearing that the people would slay them, therefore they durst not return to their wives and their children.

4 And having tarried in the wilderness, and having discovered the daughters of the Lamanites, they laid and watched them;

5 And when there were but few of them gathered together to dance, they came forth out of their secret places and took them and carried them into the wilderness; yea, twenty and four of the daughters of the Lamanites they carried into the wilderness.

There are multiple breakoff churches from the LDS church that continue to practice polygamy today. One of their motivations for doing so is because Brigham Young gave a false prophecy that it’s practice should not stop. In many cases the women did not want to participate in polygamy but was tricked and forced into practicing it. I also find it interesting in verse 3 it talks about the priest abandoning their families thus not taking care of them. I honestly don’t know how Brigham Young could have been a competent father and husband to 55 wives and 56 children. (If the purpose of polygamy is to multiply as D&C 132:63 states than about 1 child per wife is not very much, as monogamous couples have more than that even today.)
Blamed for polygamy Mosiah 20

6 And it came to pass that when the Lamanites found that their daughters had been missing, they were angry with the people of Limhi, for they thought it was the people of Limhi.

7 Therefore they sent their armies forth; yea, even the king himself went before his people; and they went up to the land of Nephi to destroy the people of Limhi.

Even though the LDS church has stopped officially practicing polygamy, most people still remember when the LDS church did practice it, and when polygamy is on the news, they think of the LDS church. The LDS church is still blamed for polygamy even today. In addition the LDS church has lied under oath about stopping the practice of polygamy. To the point that the federal government was going to confiscate the property of the church.
Planning and Tower Mosiah 20:8 And now Limhi had discovered them from the tower, even all their preparations for war did he discover; therefore he gathered his people together, and laid wait for them in the fields and in the forests. The LDS church does much planning and preparing and watching from the Church Office Building that is a tower, the tallest building in the area, next to the Salt Lake Temple.
Continued problems Mosiah 20

9 And it came to pass that when the Lamanites had come up, that the people of Limhi began to fall upon them from their waiting places, and began to slay them.

10 And it came to pass that the battle became exceedingly sore, for they fought like lions for their prey.

11 And it came to pass that the people of Limhi began to drive the Lamanites before them; yet they were not half so numerous as the Lamanites. But they fought for their lives, and for their wives, and for their children; therefore they exerted themselves and like dragons did they fight.

The USA government took away and/or threatened the property of the LDS church, because of polygamy and priesthood and the blacks. That is what caused the changes not revelation.
Mosiah 20
12 And it came to pass that they found the king of the Lamanites among the number of their dead; yet he was not dead, having been wounded and left upon the ground, so speedy was the flight of his people.13 And they took him and bound up his wounds, and brought him before Limhi, and said: Behold, here is the king of the Lamanites; he having received a wound has fallen among their dead, and they have left him; and behold, we have brought him before you; and now let us slay him.

14 But Limhi said unto them: Ye shall not slay him, but bring him hither that I may see him. And they brought him. And Limhi said unto him: What cause have ye to come up to war against my people? Behold, my people have not broken the oath that I made unto you; therefore, why should ye break the oath which ye made unto my people?

I do wonder if some of what it is referring to how the LDS church is friendly with the government even to the point of sharing the secret handshakes from the Temple ceremony with government leaders as has been documented that they have done.
Polygamy Mosiah 20:15 And now the king said: I have broken the oath because thy people did carry away the daughters of my people; therefore, in my anger I did cause my people to come up to war against thy people. Even today people believe that the LDS church practices polygamy. The LDS church denounce it publicly, were many of their break offs do practice it still.
Polygamy Mosiah 20

16 And now Limhi had heard nothing concerning this matter; therefore he said: I will search among my people and whosoever has done this thing shall perish. Therefore he caused a search to be made among his people.

17 Now when Gideon had heard these things, he being the king’s captain, he went forth and said unto the king: I pray thee forbear, and do not search this people, and lay not this thing to their charge.

Multiple times the LDS church told it’s members that we will no longer practice polygamy. Although all but the last time there was a wink wink going on with those in the know, meaning they knew it was just for show.
Caused because of polygamy Mosiah 20:18 For do ye not remember the priests of thy father, whom this people sought to destroy? And are they not in the wilderness? And are not they the ones who have stolen the daughters of the Lamanites? LDS church has had many problems with other people because of the practice of polygamy even after they have completely stopped practicing it.
About to be destroyed Mosiah 20

19 And now, behold, and tell the king of these things, that he may tell his people that they may be pacified towards us; for behold they are already preparing to come against us; and behold also there are but few of us.

20 And behold, they come with their numerous hosts; and except the king doth pacify them towards us we must perish.

21 For are not the words of Abinadi fulfilled, which he prophesied against us—and all this because we would not hearken unto the words of the Lord, and turn from our iniquities?

22 And now let us pacify the king, and we fulfil the oath which we have made unto him; for it is better that we should be in bondage than that we should lose our lives; therefore, let us put a stop to the shedding of so much blood.

The LDS leaders, in fact Wilford Woodruff was counseled by men how to take care of this problem, came up with a plan on how to pacify the USA government about polygamy.
Pacifying those who ruled over them Mosiah 20

23 And now Limhi told the king all the things concerning his father, and the priests that had fled into the wilderness, and attributed the carrying away of their daughters to them.

24 And it came to pass that the king was pacified towards his people; and he said unto them: Let us go forth to meet my people, without arms; and I swear unto you with an oath that my people shall not slay thy people.

Wilford Woodruff pacified the USA government by telling them that they would stop practicing polygamy.
Pacified Mosiah 20
25 And it came to pass that they followed the king, and went forth without arms to meet the Lamanites. And it came to pass that they did meet the Lamanites; and the king of the Lamanites did bow himself down before them, and did plead in behalf of the people of Limhi.26 And when the Lamanites saw the people of Limhi, that they were without arms, they had compassion on them and were pacified towards them, and returned with their king in peace to their own land.
The USA government returned properties back to the LDS church.
Continued Problems Mosiah 21

1 And it came to pass that Limhi and his people returned to the city of Nephi, and began to dwell in the land again in peace.

2 And it came to pass that after many days the Lamanites began again to be stirred up in anger against the Nephites, and they began to come into the borders of the land round about.

3 Now they durst not slay them, because of the oath which their king had made unto Limhi; but they would smite them on their cheeks, and exercise authority over them; and began to put heavy burdens upon their backs, and drive them as they would a dumb ass—

4 Yea, all this was done that the word of the Lord might be fulfilled.

5 And now the afflictions of the Nephites were great, and there was no way that they could deliver themselves out of their hands, for the Lamanites had surrounded them on every side.

6 And it came to pass that the people began to murmur with the king because of their afflictions; and they began to be desirous to go against them to battle. And they did afflict the king sorely with their complaints; therefore he granted unto them that they should do according to their desires.

7 And they gathered themselves together again, and put on their armor, and went forth against the Lamanites to drive them out of their land.

8 And it came to pass that the Lamanites did beat them, and drove them back, and slew many of them.

9 And now there was a great mourning and lamentation among the people of Limhi, the widow mourning for her husband, the son and the daughter mourning for their father, and the brothers for their brethren.

10 Now there were a great many widows in the land, and they did cry mightily from day to day, for a great fear of the Lamanites had come upon them.

11 And it came to pass that their continual cries did stir up the remainder of the people of Limhi to anger against the Lamanites; and they went again to battle, but they were driven back again, suffering much loss.

12 Yea, they went again even the third time, and suffered in the like manner; and those that were not slain returned again to the city of Nephi.

The LDS church and the federal government has a history of having issues with each other.
Deliver Mosiah 21

13 And they did humble themselves even to the dust, subjecting themselves to the yoke of bondage, submitting themselves to be smitten, and to be driven to and fro, and burdened, according to the desires of their enemies.

14 And they did humble themselves even in the depths of humility; and they did cry mightily to God; yea, even all the day long did they cry unto their God that he would deliver them out of their afflictions.

15 And now the Lord was slow to hear their cry because of their iniquities; nevertheless the Lord did hear their cries, and began to soften the hearts of the Lamanites that they began to ease their burdens; yet the Lord did not see fit to deliver them out of bondage.

After some time the hardships the LDS church experienced were not so hard.
Prosperity while being captive Mosiah 21:16 And it came to pass that they began to prosper by degrees in the land, and began to raise grain more abundantly, and flocks, and herds, that they did not suffer with hunger. LDS church has amassed a great fortune of money, property, and investments through the years.
People are hungry despite of the prosperity Mosiah 21:17 Now there was a great number of women, more than there was of men; therefore king Limhi commanded that every man should impart to the support of the widows and their children, that they might not perish with hunger; and this they did because of the greatness of their number that had been slain. Many children who are members of the LDS church are perishing with hungry today.
More women Mosiah 21:17 Now there was a great number of women, more than there was of men; therefore king Limhi commanded that every man should impart to the support of the widows and their children, that they might not perish with hunger; and this they did because of the greatness of their number that had been slain. It is mostly women and children who go to the LDS church now. Yes, there are men who go to the LDS church, but there are fewer men than women who go like described in Mosiah 21:17.
Kept together Mosiah 21:18 Now the people of Limhi kept together in a body as much as it was possible, and secured their grain and their flocks; LDS members stick to themselves mostly. So bad that Gordon B Hinckley has given many talks in conference that they need to be better at socializing with others.
Guarding leaders Mosiah 21:19 And the king himself did not trust his person without the walls of the city, unless he took his guards with him, fearing that he might by some means fall into the hands of the Lamanites. LDS leaders have body guards with them when they are in the public.
Watching for polygamist Mosiah 21:20 And he caused that his people should watch the land round about, that by some means they might take those priests that fled into the wilderness, who had stolen the daughters of the Lamanites, and that had caused such a great destruction to come upon them. LDS church has strict policies about those involved in polygamy joining the LDS church. In fact not long ago the LDS church denied membership to a daughter of the famous family from the TV show Sister Wives. And she does not want anything to do with polygamy, but she was denied membership regardless.
punishment Mosiah 21:21 For they were desirous to take them that they might punish them; for they had come into the land of Nephi by night, and carried off their grain and many of their precious things; therefore they laid wait for them. LDS church will not let polygamist be among their ranks because they were sorely punished for their practice of polygamy.
Peace for a time Mosiah 21:22 And it came to pass that there was no more disturbance between the Lamanites and the people of Limhi, even until the time that Ammon and his brethren came into the land. LDS church has peace with the government for a while.
Mistreat those who bring them the word of God. Mosiah 21

23 And the king having been without the gates of the city with his guard, discovered Ammon and his brethren; and supposing them to be priests of Noah therefore he caused that they should be taken, and bound, and cast into prison. And had they been the priests of Noah he would have caused that they should be put to death.

24 But when he found that they were not, but that they were his brethren, and had come from the land of Zarahemla, he was filled with exceedingly great joy.

The LDS church disregards other churches that believe in the Book of Mormon. It also treats poorly people who try to preach the word of God to them.
Breakoffs in search of Zion Mosiah 21:25 Now king Limhi had sent, previous to the coming of Ammon, a small number of men to search for the land of Zarahemla; but they could not find it, and they were lost in the wilderness. The LDS church has had breakoff churches hoping to establish Zion, but none of these breakoffs were able to establish it, and got lost in the ways of the world and devil also.
Knowledge of the 24 gold plates Mosiah 21

26 Nevertheless, they did find a land which had been peopled; yea, a land which was covered with dry bones; yea, a land which had been peopled and which had been destroyed; and they, having supposed it to be the land of Zarahemla, returned to the land of Nephi, having arrived in the borders of the land not many days before the coming of Ammon.

27 And they brought a record with them, even a record of the people whose bones they had found; and it was engraven on plates of ore.

The LDS members look forward to when the sealed portion will be translated.
No Seer Mosiah 21:28 And now Limhi was again filled with joy on learning from the mouth of Ammon that king Mosiah had a gift from God, whereby he could interpret such engravings; yea, and Ammon also did rejoice. There is no leader in the LDS church that can translate an ancient record by means of a seer stone. In fact, the translating of the Book of Mormon to additional languages is not done by those who claim the title of a seer, but is done by language experts, some who believe in the Book of Mormon and some who do not.

The LDS members need to be taught what a seer really is.

sinning and another church Mosiah 21

29 Yet Ammon and his brethren were filled with sorrow because so many of their brethren had been slain;

30 And also that king Noah and his priests had caused the people to commit so many sins and iniquities against God; and they also did mourn for the death of Abinadi; and also for the departure of Alma and the people that went with him, who had formed a church of God through the strength and power of God, and faith on the words which had been spoken by Abinadi.

The LDS church has caused many to sin because of polygamy, blood atonement, and lieing to name a few.

Some people did not want to follow after Brigham Young and started another church of God under the name of The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The power of God with them. The preached against the many sins that Brigham Young taught, including polygamy. In fact, Joseph Smith son became the president of the RLDS church, just as Joseph Smith Jr said he should be the next president.

wished they were with the other church Mosiah 21:31 Yea, they did mourn for their departure, for they knew not whither they had fled. Now they would have gladly joined with them, for they themselves had entered into a covenant with God to serve him and keep his commandments. I know of stories of those who went west who wished they had not followed after Brigham Young.
Missionary Work Mosiah 21:32 And now since the coming of Ammon, king Limhi had also entered into a covenant with God, and also many of his people, to serve him and keep his commandments. Because of the work of people outside the hierarchy of the LDS church people are learning the commandments of God and keeping them.
Authority Mosiah 21:33 And it came to pass that king Limhi and many of his people were desirous to be baptized; but there was none in the land that had authority from God. And Ammon declined doing this thing, considering himself an unworthy servant. The LDS church does not have authority from God.

D&C 124:28 states that a temple is required to restore the fulness of the priesthood to the church.

D&C 124:45 states that if the temple was finished “they shall not be moved out of their place” meaning Nauvoo. But even those who know just a little LDS history, knows that mobs forced them to leave Nauvoo.

Brigham Young in 1853 stated that not a temple had been finished.

“If the congregation will give me their attention, I will detain them but a short time. Our history is too well known to render it necessary for me to enter into particulars on the subject this morning. Suffice it to say, to this congregation, that we shall attempt to build a temple to the name of our God. This has been attempted several times, but we have never yet had the privilege of completing and enjoying one. Perhaps we may in this place, but if, in the providence of God, we should not, it is all the same.” (Brigham Young, J of D 1:277, Feb. 14, 1853.)

Authority Mosiah 21

34 Therefore they did not at that time form themselves into a church, waiting upon the Spirit of the Lord. Now they were desirous to become even as Alma and his brethren, who had fled into the wilderness.

35 They were desirous to be baptized as a witness and a testimony that they were willing to serve God with all their hearts; nevertheless they did prolong the time; and an account of their baptism shall be given hereafter.

I would honestly say I believe many Brighamites truly want to follow God and be part of God’s church. If you believe in how the BoM defines church it’s not a 501(c)3.

Mosiah 26:22 For behold, THIS IS MY CHURCH; WHOSOEVER IS BAPTIZED SHALL BE BAPTIZED UNTO REPENTANCE. And whomsoever ye receive shall believe in my name; and him will I freely forgive.

Mosiah 21:36 And now all the study of Ammon and his people, and king Limhi and his people, was to deliver themselves out of the hands of the Lamanites and from bondage. Limhi people were saved by using wine, a symbol Christ atoning blood, see Mosiah 22.
Surveys Mosiah 22:1 And now it came to pass that Ammon and king Limhi began to consult with the people how they should deliver themselves out of bondage; and even they did cause that all the people should gather themselves together; and this they did that they might have the voice of the people concerning the matter. Instead of doing things by revelation the LDS church has a habit of seeing what the members are okay with before making a decision.
Money Mosiah 22:2 And it came to pass that they could find no way to deliver themselves out of bondage, except it were to take their women and children, and their flocks, and their herds, and their tents, and depart into the wilderness; for the Lamanites being so numerous, it was impossible for the people of Limhi to contend with them, thinking to deliver themselves out of bondage by the sword. The LDS church stopped fighting against the government and in fact doesn’t speak out against the wrongs the government does, which is actually a requirement to get the 501(c)3 tax exemption.
Leaders needing man’s guidance Mosiah 22

3 Now it came to pass that Gideon went forth and stood before the king, and said unto him: Now O king, thou hast hitherto hearkened unto my words many times when we have been contending with our brethren, the Lamanites.

4 And now O king, if thou hast not found me to be an unprofitable servant, or if thou hast hitherto listened to my words in any degree, and they have been of service to thee, even so I desire that thou wouldst listen to my words at this time, and I will be thy servant and deliver this people out of bondage.

It is common practice for the top LDS leaders to get insights and plans from those who work in the LDS church office building instead of relying on revelation from God that they claim is continuing in the church, but never seem to share.
Atonement Mosiah 22

5 And the king granted unto him that he might speak. And Gideon said unto him:

6 Behold the back pass, through the back wall, on the back side of the city. The Lamanites, or the guards of the Lamanites, by night are drunken; therefore let us send a proclamation among all this people that they gather together their flocks and herds, that they may drive them into the wilderness by night.

7 And I will go according to thy command and pay the last tribute of wine to the Lamanites, and they will be drunken; and we will pass through the secret pass on the left of their camp when they are drunken and asleep.

8 Thus we will depart with our women and our children, our flocks, and our herds into the wilderness; and we will travel around the land of Shilom.

9 And it came to pass that the king hearkened unto the words of Gideon.

I find it interesting
Wine Mosiah 22:10 And king Limhi caused that his people should gather their flocks together; and he sent the tribute of wine to the Lamanites; and he also sent more wine, as a present unto them; and they did drink freely of the wine which king Limhi did send unto them. Just as the Limhi’s people made more wine than what was required to give to the Lamanites the LDS church used to make their own wine for the sacrament just as D&C 89:5 prescribes and D&C 27:3-5. Not to mention the sacramental prayers in the D&C and BoM.

I was quite restless all night. Felt chilly. Took a little Brandy sling and a cup of coffee, and slept some before daylight and until 9 am… – Wilford Woodruff Journal, 9 Jun 1897

Atonement Mosiah 22:11 And it came to pass that the people of king Limhi did depart by night into the wilderness with their flocks and their herds, and they went round about the land of Shilom in the wilderness, and bent their course towards the land of Zarahemla, being led by Ammon and his brethren.

When we truly rely on God’s atonement He will provide for our salvation temporal and spiritual.

Prepared Mosiah 22:12 And they had taken all their gold, and silver, and their precious things, which they could carry, and also their provisions with them, into the wilderness; and they pursued their journey.

We need to be prepared for the events that will happen that are described in the Book of Revelations.

Blessings Mosiah 22:13 And after being many days in the wilderness they arrived in the land of Zarahemla, and joined Mosiah’s people, and became his subjects.

It takes time after we decide to follow the commandments that we will see blessings from it.

Records Mosiah 22:14 And it came to pass that Mosiah received them with joy; and he also received their records, and also the records which had been found by the people of Limhi. Is it possible the LDS church has the gold plates but no seer who can translate them?
Protected Mosiah 22

15 And now it came to pass when the Lamanites had found that the people of Limhi had departed out of the land by night, that they sent an army into the wilderness to pursue them;

16 And after they had pursued them two days, they could no longer follow their tracks; therefore they were lost in the wilderness.

If we do things God’s way He put a gulf between us and our enemies.

  1. I’m still working my way through it, a little each day. Great analysis. 100% agreed so far. Amen and amen, brother!

  2. After reviewing you article which is very well done, could you please give me a reference that would establish the fact that Brigham was killed by a plural wife and daughter?

    • I know what the LDS / Brighamite church says, considering all the lies they have and still tell, I don’t find them a good source of truth. Josep Smith journal says something different.

  4. This is quite telling..I had already come to the conclusion that Joseph Smith is the one and only true modern true Prophet of God! Quite a while ago! I always bare testimony of that, that the Gospel of Jesus Christ IS true! The “church”, not so much.

There were many Presidents of this church, that were good men, and those who knew the truth, were beat and warned to keep quiet! or I would surmise, put to their deaths…those who are/were just lay members, are excommunicated…or at least warned, as well. It shames me…

    Well done!

Question: although I already have the TRUTH about tithing, which we pay the “true & correct way,, as we ARE commanded to do(what “they” do with it, is on them), what was YOUR purpose of adding ‘”tithing” in place of taxes, Mosiah 11:3?

Thnx for sharing and teaching the UNawaken..

  5. Elder Hyde continued and said: . . . When we demanded his [Rigdon’s] license, he said, “I did not receive it from you, neither shall I give it up to you.” He then threatened to turn traitor. His own language was, inasmuch as you have demanded my license, I shall feel it my duty to publish all your secret meetings, and all the history of the secret works of this church, in the public journals. . . . He was the cause of our troubles in Missouri, and although Brother Joseph tried to restrain him, he would take his own course, and if he goes to exposing the secrets of this church, as he says, the world will throw him down and trample him under their feet.

    • I have in the past not knowing any better, but today I don’t I believe Brigham Young is horn dog and a tyrant and the worst thing that has happened to the restoration. Most of what people hate about the restoration is not what Joseph Smith restored but what came from the vain imaginations of Brigham Young’s wicked heart.
