BoM verses with Mystery

While compiling this list I noticed that verses Mosiah 1:3, Mosiah 8:19 and Alma 37:4 bring out that the scriptures contain mysteries. Other verses bring out those mysteries need to be unfolded or in other words expanded but only to those who repent and keep the commandments. Another thing I noticed is that visual words are used around the word mystery.

Here is Mosiah 1:1-9 as a chiasmus. I noticed the centers of it which focuses around mysteries and commandments and I built it out more.

I have found it helpful to have a reminder of what words mean, so before the list of scriptures here is the 1828 Webster’s Dictionary definition of Mystery.

MYS’TERY, noun [Latin mysterium; Gr. a secret. This word in Greek is rendered also murium latibulum; but probably both senses are from that of hiding or shutting; Gr. to shut, to conceal.
1. A profound secret; something wholly unknown or something kept cautiously concealed, and therefore exciting curiosity or wonder; such as the mystery of the man with the iron mask in France.
2. In religion, any thing in the character or attributes of
God, or in the economy of divine providence, which is not revealed to man.
3. That which is beyond human comprehension until explained. In this sense, mystery often conveys the idea of something awfully sublime or important; something that excites wonder.
Great is the mystery of godliness. 1 Timothy 3:9.
Having made known to us the mystery of his will. Ephesians 1:9.
We speak the wisdom of God in a mystery 1 Corinthians 2:7.
4. An enigma; any thing artfully made difficult.
5. A kind of ancient dramatic representation.
6. A trade; a calling; any mechanical occupation which supposes skill or knowledge peculiar to those who carry it on, and therefore a secret to others.
[The word in the latter sense has been supposed to have a different origin from the foregoing, viz.]

1 Nephi 2:16 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, being exceedingly young, nevertheless being large in stature, and also HAVING GREAT DESIRES to KNOW of the MYSTERIES of GOD, wherefore, I did cry unto the Lord; and behold he did visit me, and did soften my heart that I did believe all the words which had been spoken by my father; wherefore, I did not rebel against him like unto my brothers.

1 Nephi 10:19 For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the MYSTERIES of God shall be UNFOLDED unto them, by the POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST, as well in these times as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the course of the Lord is one eternal round.

Jacob 4:8 Behold, great and marvelous are the WORKS of the Lord. How unsearchable are the depths of the MYSTERIES of him; and it is impossible that man should find out all his WAYS. Mosiah 1:3 And he also taught them concerning the records which were engraven on the plates of brass, saying: My sons, I would that ye should remember that were it not for these plates, which CONTAIN these records and these COMMANDMENTS, we must have suffered in ignorance, even at this present time, not knowing the MYSTERIES of God.

Mosiah 1:5 I say unto you, my sons, were it not for these things, which have been kept and preserved by the hand of God, that we might READ and UNDERSTAND of his MYSTERIES, and have his COMMANDMENTS always before our EYES, that even our fathers would have dwindled in unbelief, and we should have been like unto our brethren, the Lamanites, who know nothing concerning these things, or even do not believe them when they are taught them, because of the traditions of their fathers, which are not correct.

Mosiah 2:9 And these are the words which he spake and caused to be written, saying: My brethren, all ye that have assembled yourselves together, you that can hear my words which I shall speak unto you this day; for I have not commanded you to come up hither to trifle with the words which I shall speak, but that you should hearken unto me, and open your ears that ye may hear, and your hearts that ye may understand, and your minds that the MYSTERIES of God may be UNFOLDED to your VIEW.

11 And they that will harden their hearts, to them is given the LESSER PORTION OF THE WORD until they KNOW nothing concerning his MYSTERIES; and then they are taken CAPTIVE BY THE DEVIL, and led by his will down to destruction. Now this is what is meant by the chains of hell.

Alma 26:22 Yea, he that REPENTETH and EXERCISETH FAITH, and bringeth forth GOOD WORKS, and PRAYETH continually without ceasing—unto such it is given to know the MYSTERIES of God; yea, unto such it shall be given to reveal things which never have been revealed; yea, and it shall be given unto such to bring thousands of souls to repentance, even as it has been given unto us to bring these our brethren to repentance.

But I show unto you one thing which I have inquired diligently of God that I might know—that is concerning the resurrection.
